Because she utilizes the intricate ideas of game theory, Vanessa Rousso does not need to depend on chance or even her ravishing good looks in order to win at poker. Instead, she is able to get the better of her opponents by using game theory. The fact that Rousso was able to make more money from playing poker in 2007 than any other professional female poker player in the United States demonstrates that her method is very successful.
By consistently beating some of the most well-known players in poker, Rousso has shown that she is more than capable of disproving the stereotypes that are often held about blondes.
She is now at number 10 on Florida’s All Time Money List, having won more than $2.5 million from competing in live and online tournaments.
Initial Years of Life / Education
On February 5th, 1983, Vanessa Ashley Rousso was born in the charming city of White Plains, New York. She is a native New Yorker. Her father uprooted the family and brought them all the way back to Paris, France, so that he could bring up his kids in the same place where he had spent his formative years. She is a native speaker of both English and French, in addition to holding dual citizenship in the United States and France.
When Rousso was nine years old, her parents separated, which required her to go back to the United States with her mother. They went to see Rousso’s grandparents in Florida while they waited for their financial situation to improve.
Beginning in her childhood and continuing throughout her whole adult life, Rousso has consistently shown a level of brilliance that is just not contestable. In 2001, Rousso completed her high school education in Wellington, Florida, where she was honored with the title of valedictorian. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the French Honor Society, and a variety of other extracurricular organizations during her whole time in high school, but she still managed to maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average overall.
Rousso was offered scholarships to attend a wide variety of universities; nevertheless, she ultimately decided to enroll at Duke University, where she earned her degree in a record-breaking timeframe of two and a half years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in December of 2003, with a concentration in Political Science. After that, she enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law, where she went on to graduate in the top five percent of her class.
Poker Victory or Loss
During her time as a student in high school, Rousso began playing poker online. She worked steadily to increase the size of her bankroll until she was old enough to participate in live events. In 2005, she took first place at the No-Limit Hold’em Summer Series to earn her first victory in a tournament. During the same year, she participated in the World Series of Poker Championship and ended up finishing 45th in the $1,000 Ladies No-Limit Texas hold ’em tournament.
Following his time spent studying game theory at Duke, Rousso was able to successfully use those principles when playing poker. The use of game theory in poker is considering the many potential outcomes of a hand of poker and turning them into a mathematical equation. This is done while taking into account the myriad of factors that might influence the final result of the game.
In February of 2006, Rousso finished in fifth place in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em WSOP Circuit event that was held in Atlantic City. This was the moment when her career began to truly take off. She had only turned twenty-three years old when she made it to the final table of a World Series of Poker tournament, becoming her the youngest female player to do it at the time.
Shortly after claiming that win, Rousso became a member of the professional poker circuit. While there, she participated in a number of events and won more than 261,000 dollars in prize money. Even more impressively, she placed eighth in the World Poker Tour No-Limit Hold’em final event that was worth $25,000.
